V8i MDL application development setup

Hi,

We have a few MDL applications developed on V8i SS2 on Windows 7 and now we are trying to make them work on Windows 10. One of the first things we want to change is the access database from MDB to ACCDB.

I have never done any development on Microstation applications but I was asked to make the necessary changes and check if these applications work ok on Windows 10.

I was trying to understand how the source code is compiled to .ma and a dll files and was doing some basic examples. I used the shell that came with SDK and it did compile the example code to .ma and dll files but all the applications we have are VS 2005 projects and I have problems setting up VS 2005 to compile these projects. I get a  Link 1104: cannot open file 'C:\\Program.obj'  error.

Is it necessary to use VS 2005 to compile what's there in these VS projects or I can still use BMAKE to generate MA and DLLS ?

Some of these applications are nested VS 2005 projects with dependency.

Please suggest if I can use BMAKE or any pointers resolving linker error using VS 2005 would be greatly appreciated.

Also, appreciate any advise on V8i SS2 applications on Windows 10. like if they work especially reading and writing to MS access
